Visit Oulu Achieves Sustainable Travel Finland (STF) Certification: A Milestone for Sustainable Tourism

We are thrilled to announce that Oulun Matkailu Oy - Oulu Travel Marketing Ltd. has been awarded the Sustainable Travel Finland (STF) certification by Visit Finland! This prestigious certification recognizes our ongoing commitment to promoting socially, economically, and environmentally sustainable tourism practices. It’s a major step forward in our mission to position Oulu as a leading sustainable destination in Finland.

The STF certification is a hallmark of excellence in sustainability, granted to organizations that have met strict criteria in various aspects of sustainable travel. The program ensures that certified organizations are committed to long-term sustainable practices, from reducing their carbon footprint to supporting local communities and preserving natural ecosystems. This process involves seven steps, including sustainability training, performance metrics, and long-term action plans. By achieving this certification, we are not just meeting the standards but setting an example for sustainable tourism in Northern Finland.

What makes this achievement even more significant is that Oulun Matkailu Oy also holds the Green Office certification by WWF, which emphasizes our dedication to environmental responsibility within our office operations. The Green Office certification helps organizations reduce their ecological footprint through improved energy efficiency, waste reduction, and sustainable office practices.
