Ready to present at World Tourism Seasonality Summit in Bahrain

I am excited to announce that I will be speaking at the World Tourism Seasonality Summit during the airline industry Routes World event in Bahrain on October 8th, 2024. I will be delivering a keynote on “Innovative Destination Marketing and Product Development Strategies to Flatten the Seasonality Curve.” This talk will dive into practical, actionable strategies that destinations and airlines can adopt to drive year-round tourism through innovative marketing and product development.

What to Expect from My Presentation

The presentation will highlight key case studies from Oulu, Kittilä, Madeira, and Japan—all of which have faced the challenge of seasonal tourism and implemented successful strategies to overcome it. These destinations provide excellent examples of how collaboration between airlines and tourism boards can optimize low-season travel and ensure sustained growth year-round.

Some key points I will discuss:

  • How Oulu, Finland is leveraging its unique geographical location and new airline routes to build year-round tourism.
  • The transformation of Kittilä, Finland from a winter-only destination to a summer-friendly hub through innovative tourism products and new flight connections.
  • How Madeira has used digital marketing tools to successfully extend its tourism season beyond the summer.
  • The case of Japan’s Setouchi Region, which has developed new summer tourism products to appeal to adventure seekers and cultural travelers.

The focus of my talk will be on collaboration—how destinations and airlines can work together to promote low-season travel, develop new tourism products, and flatten the seasonality curve. I will also provide actionable insights that can be implemented immediately by tourism professionals and airlines looking to expand their visitor base throughout the year.

I look forward to sharing these examples and insights at Routes World in Bahrain and contributing to the important global conversation on sustainable and year-round tourism.
